Ok, so my brothers and sisters and I have a family blog that allows me to change the background and layout....and it is with blogger also....but mine won't let me change it.
The generic ones offered really don't suit my personality...lol Does anyone have any advice on how to change the layout to one not offered by blogger?

I can help you out a little bit with changing your layout and blog look but it depends on what you want.
Take a look at mine. My daughter did my header - I have the extended margins (did that myself) and changing the color is very easy. My photo blog was a little tougher but I managed to get 3 columns like I wanted.
